Basically this book is about the lies we tell ourselves and how we got to the point where we firmly believe these lies. [...]]]> The book was a quick read and kept my attention. You may not have heard of this author Don Miguel Ruiz or this book The Voice of Knowledge but it’s quite moving.

Basically this book is about the lies we tell ourselves and how we got to the point where we firmly believe these lies. Don Miguel Ruiz has an intresting take on the Adam and Eve story from the Bible. His take is that the apple that was eaten from the tree of knowledge represents the ego centric content that we eat up to form our identity. This content that we gather over the years from our family, freinds, peers, the media, etc. tends to limit us.

If this theme sounds a little familiar like some other books out there, it is to an extent. What is different about this book is that it focuses on how we get to a state where we trust the “lies” and not our true self versus other books that discuss the this point among many others.

The transformation that too many of us take from being a young child full of bewilderment, and enthusiasm to an adult full of anxiety has always facinated me. This book helped me understand how that transformation happens and what to do about it. If you find that you like this book you also might like another book that he wrote called The Four Agreements.
